Holland has invaded Belgium and Luxembourg, We now go over to The Hague where President Balkenende holds a pressconference:
*English Welcome Reporters, this morning we have invaded Belgium and Luxembourg, this was because there where anti-Dutch sentiments and pro-American, together with the flamish bloc (a flamish nationalist pary) we have conquered Belgium, afterwards Helicopters landed in Brussel and in Luxembourg killing both presidents, from now on this will be territories of Holland. at 15:00 GMT both nations surrendered giving both armies to us, we will help the allies with a invasion in US if we get back what was ours: New York.

I rather have a German force infront of me than a French force behind me ~ WW2 Four Star General George Smith Patton Jr.

Maginot Line was pretty good plan. Too bad that they didn't put any defenses in the North. That's where the Nazis invaded from . They thought the mountains would protect them, the nazis crossed the mountains.

Actually in the North there almost aren't any mountains (although there where the Ardennes but that's almost nothing,) the maginot line couldn't go in the North because Belgium didn't want to.
Hitler respected the Maginot-line, he build a Railroad-Tank for it but that didn't worked out, but it did destroy a oil-depot in Russia (for the rest it did nothing.)

Quantix, go read Page 34 of European Land battles 1939-1942 by James Dupuy it clearly states that the northern area of France was surronded by mountains and the Adrennes. The French thought that it would be impossible for tanks to get through the mountains. The german tanks moved through it....

sorry, i gotten my info from a other book (technical failures) in which is written that King Leopold of Belgium (Belgium was Neutral at that time, not that it mattered to Hitler) didn't want to have a wall along his border, but the generals also though that the north wasn't a danger.

Why didn't the french try harder to have Maginot Line in the northern area? Because they thought the mountains and the ardennes would protect them.
BTW What's King Leoplad's book called?

The History Channel always has an answer:
1) They didn't want to alienate Belgium. If you were Belgium, would you like it if the French built the Maginot line on your border?
2) Ther ran out of money.
